데이터 유기체는 실시간 지진데이터와 2015년에 사망한 어린이 수의 데이터를 10초에 한 번씩 수집하고 이 데이터를 누적하여 더한 값을 데이터 유기체의 내부의 빛 세기로 보여주는 작업입니다. 데이터 유기체가 수집한 데이터들은 지구의 내부의 움직임과 기아, 질병, 전쟁, 사고 등으로 죽은 아이들을 의미하기도 합니다. 이러한 데이터들을 빛으로 표현함으로써 데이터가 가지고 있는 숫자 너머의 현상의 이해와 더불어 죽음이 빛으로 다시 발현되기를 바라는 마음에서 출발한 작업입니다. 이 작품의 부제목인 정병은 불교에서 관음보살이 중생들의 고통과 목마름을 해소해 주는 깨끗한 물을 담는 병입니다.

Data Organism(Sensillum) is a work of collecting and accruing real-time seismic data and the number of children who died in 2015 in each country around world every 10 seconds and showing the added values as in the light intensity inside the organism. By Expressing the data of mortality rate under the age of 5 with light, it means the death converted into light. The data collected by the data organism can be interpreted as the children’s death who have died of hunger or disease or in a war or accident. By presenting dead children as in the light, it seeks a possibility of meaningful meta-communication. It is inferred in the subheading of this data organism: the subheading the Bottle of clean water(Kundika) means a Ritual Bottle. A Ritual Bottle is a bottle of clean water the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy uses to relieve the pain and thirst of the mankind in Buddhism.
